Working in a fast-paced environment very often requires gathering feedback really quickly and efficiently – both from the team and your stakeholders.
UXPin came up with a way not only to present your design in a neat way but also collect internal notes and comments coming from people outside your UXPin account.
You should start by accessing the preview mode. Just click Preview at the top of the editor (or use CMD + SHIFT + P shortcut).
You can learn more about our preview in this tutorial.
To add a comment, access Comment mode in the toolbar at the top of our preview.
Then, place the pointer in the exact place you’d like to leave your remark and press “Add comment” button.
You don’t have to worry if you make a mistake! You can always edit or delete the comment by clicking the gear icon.
Types of comments : Team and Public comments
For Enterprise plans, you can decide about the type of comments you’re about to leave. The comment can be either visible publicly or available just for your team.
- Team comments: they’re visible only for people having access to UXPin account.
They may be extremely useful if you want to comment on something internally, and you don’t want to engage your clients at this level.
- Public comments: they’re visible for everyone – both team members of the UXPin account as well as people outside UXPin (clients, stakeholders, etc.).
It’s an awesome way to gather feedback from your clients, stakeholders and basically to keep everyone in the loop.
You can also share your designs with people outside of your UXPin account. They will see all public comments and have the option to set their name then, so you know who’s left that particular feedback.
You can also see the entire list of the comments right side on your design.
Just press the “Comments” button in the top right corner to access and manage all comments really easily.
You can see all of them listed and when you click any of them, it will open right on your design preview too, so you can see which part of your work it applies to.
All members added to the project you’re working on are automatically notified when a new comment pops up. However, you can choose precisely who you’d like to keep in the loop.
You can select only particular people to be informed, you can notify other members of your UXPin account, or… none of them if you do care about the clarity of their mailboxes.
By default, the section with Project members will be shown to you, but you can easily switch it to e.g. “All” to pick the right people to be notified:
Assigning team members and filtering comments
For Enterprise users, it’s possible to assign a project member to a specific comment. It builds an amazing sense of responsibility for responding to a given task included in the comment (e.g. saying that a part of UI that should be changed). In this way, you can track the progress of the task really easily.
To assign a person to the comment, just go to the very bottom of the comment window and pick the person from the list of project members:
This is also the place where you can unassign a responsible person and assign another one to the comment.
You can also see who’s assigned to a particular comment or change the project member who should be responsible for it in “Comments” section in the preview mode:
Speaking of tracking progress of comments, you may want to check what’s assigned to a designer, or look at comments which are assigned to you. No trouble with that – you don’t have to look through all comments to find what you’re looking for.
Just open Comments view settings. This is the place where you can filter your comments by assigned project members. This way, both on your design as well as in “Comments” section you’ll see comments assigned only to a specific person. Filtering by “Not assigned” allows you to see which comments are not assigned yet, so you can make up for it quickly!
You can toggle visibility of comments by filtering their type or using keyboard shortcuts listed in that section.
That’s all you have to know about UXPin preview and commenting feature to smoothly collaborate within your project team. Managing comments has never been that easy and efficient!
