Merge Component Manager is a code-free way to import your components.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Merge Component Manager allows you to configure your components without dev&#8217;s help. The codeless process allows designers to set up and manage component properties within UXPin, giving them the power of coded interactions when building prototypes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-design-value-conference-2022-talk-maggie-dieringer-uber-eats\">Design Value Conference 2022 Talk: Maggie Dieringer, Uber Eats<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"DesignOps &amp; Its Impact at Uber | Design Value Conference\" width=\"660\" height=\"371\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Tk9vPrb7_qA?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Maggie Dieringer, Senior Design Program Manager (DPM) at Uber, shared some valuable insights about DesignOps at Uber.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Having worked with various Uber products, Maggie provided examples of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uxpin.com\/studio\/blog\/designops-at-uber\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">how she tackled DesignOps with multiple team sizes and all stages of maturity<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here are the key takeaways from Maggie&#8217;s talk.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-framing-and-scaling\">Framing and Scaling<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Maggie&#8217;s framing and scaling process to determine where DPMs should spend their time to have the most impact. Maggie uses three framing factors to get an accurate picture of the org and make informed decisions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Size &amp; State of the Design Org<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Design Team Resourcing<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Level of Partnership<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-increase-dpm-impact\">Increase DPM Impact<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>With a clear understanding of the org and its problems, Maggie chooses a suitable &#8220;level of engagement.&#8221; DPMs are more hands-on when zoomed in, working with teams on day-to-day tasks. When zoomed out, DPMs focus more on advocating, strategy, and planning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-support-dpm-trajectory\">Support DPM Trajectory<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Lastly, Maggie creates a DesignOps roadmap with long-term goals. Using the framing exercise, Maggie wants to answer three crucial trajectory questions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Where are you today?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Where do you want to be?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Where does your team want to be?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-design-value-conference-2022-talk-salome-mortazavi-sirius-xm\">Design Value Conference 2022 Talk: Salome Mortazavi, Sirius XM<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Prove DesignOps and Business Impact | Design Value Conference 2022\" width=\"660\" height=\"371\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/xwsHcY2sp9c?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Salom\u00e9 Mortazavi, Director of DesignOps at SiriusXM, talks about using frameworks to create a DesignOps roadmap.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Salom\u00e9&#8217;s work with SiriusXM and many Fortune 500 organizations has given her valuable knowledge and experience, which she shares in her talk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here are the key takeaways from Salom\u00e9&#8217;s talk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-advice-for-beginners\">Advice for Beginners<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the common mistakes beginner DesignOps practitioners make is being &#8220;yes&#8221; people. They take on too many day-to-day operations instead of focusing on the bigger picture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When starting, Salom\u00e9 has three recommendations to overcome this:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Find value:<\/strong> Look for areas where you can add the most value<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Efficiency vs. Efficacy:<\/strong> Start by framing problems using the right metrics to identify a baseline<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Listen and Take Notes:<\/strong> Rather than jumping in and making the changes <em>you think<\/em> the org needs, interview team members to understand their challenges<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-designops-framework-design-maturity-index\">DesignOps Framework: Design Maturity Index<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Salom\u00e9 uses the Design Maturity Index to identify themes and problems, separating them into two &#8220;buckets:&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>DesignOps (Design Org Ops)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Design Leadership\/Design Team\/Product (Design Practice Ops)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Salom\u00e9 uses a menu tool to assign and categorize these themes and problems accordingly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-creating-a-designops-roadmap\">Creating a DesignOps Roadmap<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>With her problems defined and assigned, Salom\u00e9 outlines a DesignOps roadmap with three time horizons and several categories. To do this, Erica created a hybrid DesignOps\/DevOps framework. Instead of creating DesignOps, Erica and her team operationalized design within DevOps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-evolution-of-responsibilities\">Evolution of Responsibilities<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>For this hybrid system to work, Erica had to empower product teams to design, prototype, and test while educating product managers and engineers about the importance of user experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-evolving-paypal-s-designops-2-0-process\">Evolving PayPal&#8217;s DesignOps 2.0 Process<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Having worked with DesignOps 2.0 since 2019, Erica and her team are working on evolving the process for product teams to deliver better products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Erica is working on a system to operationalize user research. In short, design teams often find themselves playing catch-up rather than working on long-term strategies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Omkar uses two frameworks to overcome this catch-up conundrum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-framework-one-omkar-s-connecting-the-dots-map\">Framework One: Omkar&#8217;s Connecting the Dots Map<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Connecting the dots is about aligning Product, Design, and Engineering activities and frameworks to improve communication and collaboration throughout the software development process.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The aim of connecting the dots map will help you identify how your orgs make decisions and how these decisions are interdependent. DesignOps can then implement strategies to align Design with the rest of the organization for more streamlined product delivery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-framework-two-omkar-s-design-offerings\">Framework Two: Omkar&#8217;s Design Offerings<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Omkar&#8217;s proactive Design Offerings strategy is a process of creating products that DesignOps markets Product Managers for their projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These products streamline project intake and provide design teams with actionable first steps.
